BARRED OWL NESTING BOX (OWL HOUSE) by Holley
If your property is overrun with rodents, the owl is a great friend, as it reduces that population. We have had many ranchers utilize our owl houses to lower rodent population. Barred owls stay with a nest, rather than migrate, unless they are forced to migrate by larger predators. Holleys Barred Owl house is large enough to contain a family of owls. As the owls increase on your property, you may want to consider a second house, placing it a good distance from first house.
All species of owls are different in size and require different size holes..We customize the hole for the species in your area. Our owl houses are constructed of rough cut Ohio Hard Pine wood....It is the same wood pioneers often used for their homes...it is thick, heavy, insulating, and durable. We have found that many of our wildlife friends do not like the aromatic wood, as the smell and air inside the house is particularly strong in hot and humid weather. Our Ohio Hard Pine wood is air dried and cleaned before manufacturing. The barred owl house can be mounted on either a tree or a post approximately 18-22 feet high. About Holleys Habitat Homes: We have been a major manufacturer of wildlife habitat homes since 1998; Our insights regarding wildlife habitation come from living close to natural forests in Wisconsin, as well as the best in published wildlife experts. We seek to bring you a product that will easily replace the natural wildlife habitations, which are rapidly diminishing.
Our houses are constructed to be as natural as possible-no processed wood, paint, or varnish: they are rustic and sturdy. We have chosen not to use aromatic wood, as that can be harmful to babies. We fire harden our houses instead of using varnish or paint. The fire hardening protects and extends the life of the house. Our houses last approximately 20-30 years, depending on climate.
Thank you for taking an interest in wildlife. They give us great pleasure and help maintain balance in our environment. We appreciate you for helping protect them.
