Pic of Brown Bat

Types of bats attracted to Holleys' bat houses:  little brown, big brown, cave, northern long-eared, palid, big-eared, Yuma, and southeastern--.

LITTLE-KNOWN BAT FACTS:  Bats are a critical part of our eco-system:  they eat close to their weight in mosquitos and other  disease-bearing insects every night.  They are by far the best mosquito repellant.

Our houses are are rustic and sturdy.  We  use rough cut wood, helping the bats to "cling" easier.  Also, our houses are fire hardened--a natural way to extend life of house and make it maintenance free.  There is no paint, varnish, sealer or aromatic wood that is used.

Our six chamber bat house is constructed of non-aromatic wood for the comfort and safety of the bat, who is a mammal. The houses are customized for your area and provide a habitat in which the bats can find shelter from the elements and give birth and protection to their young.

Each bat house is customized to the size of bats in your area.  Every bat house is sprayed with our Bat Attract before shipping in order to help the bats find your house a little faster.  Most important, there is always a wildlife specialist available to answer your questions regarding size of bat house you need and best placement of the bat house.    Call Holleys' at 330-221-8799 for assistance with questions/concerns.

Field Guide to Amazonian Bats (02:41)
Do you think identifying bats in Europe or in North America is difficult? Well, try it in the Amazon. The planet’s green lung is home to the most diverse bat communities on the planet with more than 160 species currently described. Local species richness often surpasses 100 and for many, their identification in the field is, to say the least, challenging. This task will now become easier with the publication of the Field Guide to Amazonian Bats, a landmark handbook aimed at facilitating species identification in the field. Its new digital dynamic format, continuously updated, might be the future for field guides for the most unexplored regions in the world. As one of the first interactive online field guides for bats, the authors’ aim is to continuously update and improve it. The field guide provides an essential tool, not only for researchers, but also for bat conservationists, consultancies and anyone interested in Neotropical bats in general, and Amazonian bats in particular. The book is published online as an open access e-book free of charge in www.tropicalconservation.net. Bat Conservation International is proud to be one of many supporters of this unique project.
